BioTechnology

We've been talking a lot about this in Honors Bio lately, and wanted to know your guy's opinions on this subject. Now scientists have been able to grow a human ear on a rats' back that can be removed and grafted onto a human. There are many medical related modifications done to animals, but now they've figured out ways to take genes from deep-sea creatures and put them into mammal skin cells so they glow. It does nothing to help any organism, and is simply a novelty. Soon they will be able to do that to apes, and from that humans. Have scientists gone too far? When will they? Is this a good idea? What could we do as humans to stop this? Anything?

Most Exciting Parts of Spring Break

The most exciting part of my spring break was visiting the grandparents in Tacoma and going to the Seattle Art Museum on the way back. Here's some pictures from the museum, the beach, and the drive there:

Below is a statue made out of glass bottles:

Below is a robe/armor thingy made out of dog tags from the Vietnam War

Those pole things are actually lights that flash, apparently
the moment I took the picture just happened to be when
none of them were lit up

My favorite section was the Ancient Greek/Roman:

Below is a grave marker from Athens, from 323 BC!!!

The one below is a statue of a giant rat/mouse sitting on a sleeping human:

The Hunger Games cast

So, Jennifer Lawrence was cast as Katniss(above) on St. Patrick's day, and today Peeta and Gale were cast. I completely agree with Lionsgate's decision for Katniss, but I'm not so sure about Peeta and Gale. I don't really think the actors will be able to support the roles throughout the trilogy. Head over to mockingjay.net to see the choices and let me know what you think!!!(Update: I got these photo manupulations. Katniss is PERFECT!)
